Thank you for your interest in Sidewalk Sale!

You've come to the right place! We have events that will make over 2,700 incoming students aware of your business and opportunities. Sidewalk Sale is an event run under Queen’s Arts and Science Orientation Week and attracts crowds of around 10,000 Kingston community members and students. By taking part in ASUS Orientation Week, you will also be supporting the Kingston chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society, which supports cancer patients in Kingston and funds innovative, local cancer research out of the Canadian Cancer Trials Group on Queen's campus. Thanks to continued support from local vendors, ASUS Orientation annually raises close to $100,000 in support of Kingston charities. With your help, we hope to continue to introduce students to the Kingston community, support local businesses, and break our previous fundraising records!

Please note: Any businesses/club strongly associated with the consumption of alcohol or use of marijuana, is not permitted to partake in sidewalk sale as per the Univeristy’s orientation and substance policy. For questions, please reach out to asussidewalksale@asus.queensu.ca.

How to register:



Applications and payment must be received by August 15th at 11:59pm for booths not planning on selling food. The deadline for booths planning on distributing food is July 31st at 11:59PM. A late fee ($15) will be incurred if received after July 15th, 2025. All vendors that plan on selling or distributing food, drinks, and merchandise will be required to attach a photo of their certificate of insurance to the application. If food is to be sold or distributed at the event, a food permit will be required as an attachment at the time of registration. These can also be emailed to asussidewalksale@asus.queensu.ca

Application Process:

1. Pay the respective sidewalk sale registration fee, keeping track of any adds on that you selected

2. Sign the respective sidewalk sale contract

3. Complete the respective sidewalk sale registration form

4. Stay tuned for updates and day of procedures from the Sidewalk Sale Orientation Coordinators!

Please note:

  • No electricity is provided

  • No water connection hookup

  • Must keep everything within purchased booth space

  • Must get handouts approved by ASUS

  • Must submit appropriate permits as detailed in the contract
