Financial Accessibility and Fairness At Queen’s

report explores many questions regarding students’ financial situations and how they interact with financial accessibility resources. This report also highlights the effects of different variables such as race, citizenship, parental income, parental education level or having a disability on the financial accessibility of a Queen’s education. In doing so, this report highlights significant areas where Queen’s must improve its financial accessibility.

Making Queens more financially accessible will allow more people to have access to our quality post-secondary experience. As an institution that has long reinforced existing power structures in Canada, expanding the amount of people who can access a Queen’s education is paramount Aside from accessing education, financial accessibility affects a student’s entire university experience. Increasing financial accessibility will allow students from more diverse backgrounds and life experiences to come to Queen’s. In turn, this would benefit the Queen's community, and help Queen’s fulfill its obligation to contribute to a better and more diverse society.
