Introducing… Linsey Wilson

In the research project “Investigating Depressive Symptomatology in Children with ASD and ADHD”, I have assessed children with ASD and/or ADHD and their parents using two questionnaires in an interview format to determine which of the child’s symptoms are deemed most relevant to depression and which are deemed most relevant to ASD/ADHD.

Since I received the first portion of funding, I have personally developed the two questionnaires that we are asking the parents and their children.

I have also completed the General Research Ethics Board application and have learned how to create a study on Qualtrics, and since has been using this survey-tool to gather my data. I have also been responsible for administering a great amount of interviews with participants over Zoom.

I have been responsible for training other research assistants in the lab to ensure that they can interview participants efficiently as well. Lastly, I have been responsible for answering all lab emails, and phone calls with participants, as well as advertising the study.

This research is essential as we will be using the findings from this study to develop a new instrument to assess depression reliably and validly among children with ASD and ADHD.

The ASURF funding has provided me the opportunity to start and make significant progress on this study before the 2020/2021 academic year has begun. Without the ASURF funding I received I would not have been able to complete this research project.
