ASUS Services

ASUS also offers a variety of services to allow students the opportunity to get the most out of their time at Queen’s as well as give back to the Queen’s and Kingston community in a memorable way. Two services that will be highlighted include ASUS Jackets and the Good Times Diner.

ASUS Jackets

ASUS Jackets is a service which provides students in the faculty of Arts and Science, Computing, Concurrent Education, and Kinesiology an opportunity to proudly show their school spirit.

ASUS Jackets offers two types of jackets, a leather jacket and a vegan jacket. The leather jacket offers men’s and women’s sizing as well as custom fittings which will allow your jacket to be personalized in a way that will suit students in life at Queen’s and much later on. Leather Jackets are approximately 450.00 dollars, tax not included. 2023-2024 custom fitting date will be released in September of 2023! The vegan jacket is a sustainable and cruelty friendly option and has a similar style to that of a windbreaker. The vegan jacket has unisex sizing options and are approximately 165.00 dollars, tax not included!

ASUS Jackets allows students the opportunity to show off their faculty spirit and keep forever a piece of historical memorabilia to cherish once their time at Queen’s comes to an end. To make this piece of clothing even more memorable, students can earn bars which can be sewn onto their jackets! Students can earn bars for achievements including being an orientation leader, passing their first year exams, and many more.

Good Times Diner

Good Times Diner is a locally run service by students for students providing meals to the Queen’s community for those facing food insecurity. These meals are freshly prepared by a staff of Queen’s student volunteers and served every week outside of Chalmers Church at 212 Barrie Street. Each week brings a new menu which includes accommodations for various dietary needs, including but not limited to Gluten Free, Vegan, and Halal options.

There is a set pickup time period that is released along with the menu each week, typically occurring on Sundays. These meals can be distributed to any and all Queen’s students facing food insecurities across a variety of programs and years of study. These meals are typically free to ALL Queen’s students.

Additionally, the Good Times Diner also provides easy recipes for Queen’s students to follow based on menus that were cooked and distributed previously at Chalmers Church. Follow their instagram @queensgtd for more recipe information!

Students can also get involved as a service volunteer and give back to the Queen’s and Kingston community in a really impactful way. This is a great opportunity to positively interact with the community as a student! Service volunteers can participate in the cooking, plating, or distributing of meals. Each volunteer applies and is hired for two shifts per month, each shift lasting for 3.5 hours! To learn more about how you can get involved visit the Good Times Diner at queensgoodtimes@asus.queensu.ca!
