ASUS Appeals Resource Centre

The ASUS Appeals Resource Centre (AARC) provides support for students who are in the process of making petitions and appeals, whether with respect to academic matters or academic integrity. It utilizes student volunteers who are knowledgeable in the petition and appeal process and trained by university staff to provide confidential support.

While we cannot advocate for students in the petition and appeal process, we aim to help every student put forward their best case possible. ASUS Appeals Resource Centre volunteers can make regulations more accessible, improve writing clarity, and help students understand the often-complicated petition and appeal process. The service is completely free-of-cost.

Please note that the service is not responsible for the outcome of any cases for which it advises, and provides only guidance to students who are making petitions and appeals. Focus areas for support include writing clarity, interpretation of academic regulations, and structuring argumentation.

After you submit your form, a member of our team will be in touch to set up a meeting and gather any additional information you may wish to provide. Any further questions can be directed to appeals@asus.queensu.ca.

The ASUS Appeals Resource Centre has developed guides to provide students with more information on academic and academic integrity petitions and appeals. These guides were adapted from information available in the Faculty of Arts and Science’s Academic Calendar and on the websites of the University Ombudsperson, the International Programs Office, Faculty of Arts and Science, and Student Academic Success Services. Please note that they may not be updated immediately as petition and appeal regulations are modified.

Please see the documents on the petition and appeal process, petition and appeal types, and petition and appeal letter writing below.
